Layered Cushion

Layered cushion is produced as part of an exhibition and interior design project.

Initially designed to add colour, warmth and a sense of comfort in the public seating area, we decided to source all the materials and make the cushions in-house in an attempt to find out where the materials come from. A simple yet revealing exercise that shows how synthetic materials are embedded in items labelled as natural fibres, and the complexity of current marketplace where items as small as a spool of thread have significant embodied carbon due to existing global manufacturing system.
